I’ve not taken the time to pay Ian Howell’s owl hide a visit, but I took my girl friend with me, as she loves owls and we had 3 visits from a pair of Tawny’s that are now starting to kick out the young.
Not very often you get this close to a Sparrowhawk but after a failed attempt at catching a Sparrow on the bird feeders, it landed just metres from the hide in beautiful sunlight.
Water Rail dancing on ice
Why did the Water Rail walk across the ice? Literally.. to get to the other side lol, where the water had melted in the sun, allowing it to feed in the shallows.
Osprey Balancing Act
An amazing experience getting close to our native Fish Hawks. Ospreys are a world wide loved species and it was an absolute pleasure to have photographed three Juveniles on my home patch.
Kingfisher With Fish
I was lucky enough to be apart of a Firecrest Survey earlier this year and have since become very familiarises with the species. This photo marks the record of a new site for 2016. Very lucky to have found it and even more lucky that it showed so well during a downpour on the edge of a broadleaf woodland.
Kingfisher Stretching Beak
Bearded Tit Splits
Male & Female Brambling
Winter Great Spotted Woodpecker
Snow immediately sets the mood of this photo for me and the fact that the Male Woodpecker is slightly puffed up to keep insulated. This is my favourite woodpecker image by far.
